Hey guys!
You're probably thinking we're blogging like mad at the mo! Which would be true actually. So this is another entry to update the hundreds of readers of this blog (lol) as to how we're getting on here in Toronto. However, you'll see that we put up some pics in our last entry and blogspot has gone all weird with its pic uploads so we cant add text to that entry (odd!). The pics, as you'll see are a bit of a variety.
Firstly....theres some pics of our MARMITE COMPETITION WIN!!!! Yep, thats right. As you know, Jen recently became a senior Ambassador for the Marmarati (www.marmarati.org) whereby we submitted a great pic and story of our love for the gorgeous marmite to get through to the second round. We then made an awesome video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W0vmx22X5IE) and we won 20 years free marmite!!!!! Do you have any idea how amazing that is for such marmite freaks as us!!! ITS FRIGGING AMAZING!! Those pics are of our first years supply. Sweet eh?!
Secondly, there's a few pics of us leaving the UK (again!). Katie, in particular looks hilarious with Annabelle's baby's sick dribbling down her chin, hahaha.
And thirdly, after arriving in Toronto, we stayed with our cool-ass friend Jimbo (as previously mentioned in another blog entry). Hes that funky looking dude in the pic.
So Jimbo lives in Milton, which is pretty far out of central Toronto. This is pretty unfortunate as we needed to get into the city today to go and meet our couchsurfer host. Couchsurfing is a great concept if you haven't heard about it. Its basically a way to meet new people by staying on their couch (or spare bed) in many, many cities across the world, for free. Such a cool idea as you tend to meet like minded people.
Today we met Liz, who is an ultra cool, 60 year old chick with two cats. Shes hosted many people from all across the world over the last 5 years. In fact, she even has a current lodger whom she met whilst couchsurfing. In order to get to Liz this morning from Milton, we had to get a 15min bus to the train station, followed by an hour train journey to the subway in outer Toronto and then a subway for 30mins to Liz's street, Dunforth on the East Side of Toronto. After meeting and chilling with Liz we were off again, ready to hit some prospective places to stay.
Another 20 min subway into Toronto, followed by a 15min street car and we were in the Kensington area of Toronto. This part is seriously funky but the place we viewed also smelt seriously funky...not cool. A second viewing in an apartment a mere 40min walk away from this one and by this point we were seriously knackered after taking pretty much every form of transport (plus walking) before midday!!!
The second viewing on Havelock Street had more potential, but Jen didn't get a good vibe...so its 'Carry On Surfing' (as in Couch surfing) for now.
Lets just hope if we choose to couch surf some more that the next host is as awesome as Liz! Such a cool chick. Peace out for now!
